Воздвижение креста на кровле новопостроенного монастырского храма
22 мая, в день перенесения мощей св. Николая Чудотворца, в монастыре св. Феогния был совершен «Чин молитвенный на поставление креста на верх крова новосозданной церкви».
Епископу Андрею сослужил о. протод. Валентин из Сиднея. Мельбурнские прихожане прибыли для молитвенного участия в воздвижении креста.
Вся сила диавола разрушена и упразднена крестом Христовым. Крест, который прежде был орудием позорной казни, стал непобедимым оружием и защитой христиан. «Крест – красота Церкви», – говорит церковная песнь. Как драгоценное украшение, как зажженный светильник на подсвечнике, крест ставится на верх церковной кровли.
Еще не прошел год с того дня, когда была совершена закладка этого храма, и вот, по милости Божией, на его кровле установлен крест. Еп. Андрей с благодарностью отметил труды многих, участвовавших в постройке монастырского храма. Не только прихожане Мельбурна, но также Брисбена и Сиднея поучаствовали своими пожертвованиями и трудом.
Благодарственные грамоты были выданы: Борису Прокопьеву, главному строителю храма, Димитрию Кичакову, устроившему купол и аналои, и Живко Релускоскому за изготовление престола, жертвенника и художественного резного аналоя для Евангелия.
Были провозглашены многолетия всем жертвователям и всем потрудившимся для создания этого храма, а упокоившимся благодетелям нашей обители пропели «Вечную память».
Installation of the cross on the roof of the newly-built monastery church
On the day of the Translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, May 22, in the monastery of St. Theognios it was performed “A rite for installation of a cross on top of the roof of the newly-built church.”
Bishop Andrei was serving with Fr. Valentine, protodeacon from Sydney. Melbourne parishioners arrived to prayerfully participate in the raising of the cross.
All the power of the devil was destroyed and abolished by the cross of Christ. The cross, which was previously an instrument of shameful execution, has become an invincible weapon and protection for Christians. “The cross is the beauty of the Church,” says the church hymn. Like a precious adornment, like a shining lamp on a candlestick, the cross is placed on top of the church roof.
A year has not yet passed since the day when a consecrated stone was put down in the foundation of this church, and now, by God’s grace, a cross was installed on its roof. Bp. Andrei with gratitude acknowledged the labour and donations of those who took part in the construction of the monastery church. Not only the Melbourne parishioners, but also parishioners from Brisbane and Sydney sent their generous contributions.
Certificates of gratitude were given to Boris Prokopyev, the main builder of the temple, to Dimitri Kichakov, who built the dome and analogions, and Zivko Reluskosky, for making the Holy Table, the Preparation Table, and the artistically carved lectern for the Gospel.
“Many Years” was sung to all those who contributed in the construction and decoration of this temple, and to the reposed benefactors “Eternal memory” has been sung.
