Дом, основанный на камне. Проповедь
Во имя Отца и Сына и Св. Духа.
Братья и сестры,
В евангельском чтении мы слышали притчу Господа нашего Иисуса Христа: «Всякого, кто слушает слова Мои сии и исполняет их, уподоблю мужу благоразумному, который построил дом свой на камне; и пошел дождь, и разлились реки, и подули ветры, и устремились на дом тот, и он не упал, потому что основан был на камне. А всякий, кто слушает сии слова Мои и не исполняет их, уподобится человеку безрассудному, который построил дом свой на песке; и пошел дождь, и разлились реки, и подули ветры, и налегли на дом тот; и он упал, и было падение его великое». (Мат. 7, 24-27)
Здесь Господь душу уподобляет дому. Если дом души основан на исполнении заповедей Евангелия, то он основан на твердом камне. Камень – это Христос. Эта притча показывает, как важно исполнение заповедей Божиих. Жизнь по заповедям Божиим делает душу непоколебимой, твердой, способной выстоять в любых искушениях.
Наоборот, те, кто не исполняют заповедей Христовых, рано или поздно терпят кораблекрушение в вере, по выражению св. Ап. Павла. Т.е. в час испытания, в критические моменты, которые неизбежно случаются в жизни, а лучше сказать, попускаются нам промыслом Божиим для нашего испытания, они оказываются малодушными, растерянными, не способными противостоять искушениям, не готовыми ничем пожертвовать ради спасения своей души.
В Псалтири есть такой стих: «Светильник ногам моим закон Твой и свет путям моим». (Пс. 118:105)
Представим, что кто-нибудь идет ночью в темноте, имея в руках зажженный фонарь. Он не может видеть далеко вперед. Свет фонаря достаточен только, чтобы безопасно сделать один шаг, чтобы не оступиться и не упасть.
В Св. Писании настоящая жизнь сравнивается с ночью. Как мы молимся в одной из утренних молитв: «И даруй нам бодренным сердцем и трезвенною мыслию всю настоящаго жития нощь прейти, ожидающим пришествия светлаго и явленнаго дне Единороднаго Твоего Сына, Господа и Бога и Спаса нашего Иисуса Христа.»
Мы двигаемся во тьме, потому что мы по большей части живем в неведении о самих себе, о других и о будущем. Но светильник закона Божия освещает наш путь и показывает нам, как поступить в ближайший момент. Прежде, чем сделать что-либо, мы рассматриваем при свете закона Христова, будет ли это дело угодно Богу, согласно ли оно с учением Евангелия. И если мы видим, что оно не противоречит учению, а наоборот, согласно с заповедями Божиими, то мы делаем этот шаг. Так заповеди Евангелия как свет светильника сохраняют нас от ложных шагов.
Да утвердит Господь стопы наши на камне Своих заповедей, чтобы нам беспорочно пройти ночь настоящей жизни и достичь незаходимого света Царствия Божия.

Sermon: house built on the rock
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Brothers and sisters,
In the Gospel reading we heard the parable of our Lord Jesus Christ: “Everyone that hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and if fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. And everyone that hears these words of Mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof” (Mat. 7,24-27)
Here the Lord likens the soul to the house. If the house of the soul is established on the fulfillment of the Gospel commandments, then it is based on a solid stone. The stone is Christ.
This parable shows how important the fulfillment of God’s commandments is. Life according to the commandments of God makes the soul unshakable, firm, able to withstand any temptation.
On the contrary, those who do not fulfil the commandments of Christ, earlier or later suffer a shipwreck of their faith, in the words of St Paul. That is at the hour of trial, at critical moments which inevitably happen in life, or rather, which are allowed by God’s providence for our trial, such people turn out to be fainthearted, disoriented, unable to resist temptations, not ready to sacrifice anything for the salvation of their soul.
In the Psalms there is such a verse: “Your Law is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps. 118: 105).
Let’s imagine that someone is walking at night in the dark, having a lighted lantern in his hands. He cannot see far ahead. The light of the lantern is only enough to take one step safely, in order not to stumble and fall.
Present life is compared to the night in Holy Scripture. As we pray in one of the morning prayers: “Grant us to pass through all the night of this present life with watchful heart and sober thought, awaiting the coming of the bright and manifest day of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
We move in the dark, because we mostly live in ignorance of ourselves, of others and of the future. Sinful passions darken our spiritual vision. But the lamp of God’s law lights up our path and shows us how to act in every situation. Before deciding to do anything, we consider in the light of the law of Christ, whether this act is pleasing to God, whether it agrees with the Gospel. And if we see that it is in accordance with God’s commandments, we take this step. Thus, the Gospel commandments as a lamp protect us from false steps.
May the Lord establish our feet on the stone of His commandments, so that we may pass through the night of the present life and reach the endless day of the Heavenly Kingdom.
