Проповедь в день Казанской иконы Божией Матери
Во имя Отца и Сына и Св. Духа.
Братия и сестры,
В праздники Божией Матери положено читать следующий отрывок из послания св. апостола Павла к Филиппийцам:
«Братие, в вас должны быть те же чувствования, какие и во Христе Иисусе: Он, будучи образом Божиим, не почитал хищением быть равным Богу; но уничижил Себя Самого, приняв образ раба, сделавшись подобным человекам и по виду став как человек; смирил Себя, быв послушным даже до смерти, и смерти крестной. Посему и Бог превознес Его и дал Ему имя выше всякого имени, дабы пред именем Иисуса преклонилось всякое колено небесных, земных и преисподних, и всякий язык исповедал, что Господь Иисус Христос в славу Бога Отца». (Филип. 2:5-11)
Здесь Апостол говорит о том, как Господь Иисус Христос смирил Себя для нашего спасения. Он будучи Богом, ради послушания Богу Отцу, уничижил себя до того, что стал человеком, и умер на кресте, самой мучительной и позорной смертью.
«Ибо так возлюбил Бог мир, что отдал Сына Своего Единородного, дабы всякий, верующий в Него, не погиб, но имел жизнь вечную» (Иоанна 3,16).
Но почему Христу нужно было страдать и быть распятым на кресте? Каким образом Крест Христов даровал возрождение человечеству? Это тайна, непостижимая для ограниченного человеческого разума.
Падение первого человека Адама – это падение всего человечества. Мы рождаемся, имея в себе семя греховного повреждения. В младенце уже можно заметить ростки страстей: эгоизм, зависть к братьям и сестрам. Ребенок растет, и вместе с ним растут его греховные наклонности. Все хорошее требует усилий, а плохое, наоборот, притягивает.
Как изменить склонность человека ко злу? Как привлечь его к добру, не ограничивая при этом его свободу? Как вселить в сердце человека свободное желание искать Бога и бежать от диавола?
Спасение человека было совершено воплощением Сына Божия, Его добровольной смертью на Кресте и воскресением.
Сын Божий родился на земле как человек. Он принял на Себя человеческую природу и в Своей Личности соединил человеческую природу с божественной. Господь Иисус Христос в Своем человеческом естестве победил диавола. Человечество, соединенное с Богом в Лице Иисуса Христа, стало способным побеждать диавола (к чему первый Адам оказался неспособен).
Почему этот отрывок из послания к Филиппийцам читается в праздники Божией Матери? Потому что он изображает славу Иисуса Христа, как Человека. Как Бог, Сын Божий всегда имеет славу равную Богу Отцу. Но здесь Апостол говорит о славе Господа, которую Он получил, как Человек, за Свое смирение и послушание даже до крестной смерти.
«Посему и Бог превознес Его и дал Ему имя выше всякого имени, дабы пред именем Иисуса преклонилось всякое колено небесных, земных и преисподних, и всякий язык исповедал, что Господь Иисус Христос в славу Бога Отца».
Слава Господа, как Человека, — это вместе с тем и слава Пресвятой Богородицы, потому что от Нее Он воспринял плоть и стал человеком, родившись от Нее.
Апостол начинает свою речь словами: «в вас должны быть те же чувствования, какие и во Христе Иисусе…»
Человек сотворен по образу и подобию Божию. Черты образа Божия: свобода воли, разум и бессмертие, заложены в душе человека и они неуничтожимы. Мы по естеству имеем эти качества. Но подобие Божие дано нам как возможность. Мы должны уподобиться Богу, следуя Его заповедям. Потому и Св. Писание призывает нас к тому, чтобы быть подражателями Богу. «Подражайте Богу, как чада возлюбленные» (Ефес. 5:1-2). «Будьте святы, потому что Я свят» (1Пет. 1:16). «Будьте милосерды, как и Отец ваш милосерд» (Лук. 6,36) и т. п.
Так же и в сегодняшнем чтении Апостол говорит: «в вас должны быть те же чувствования, какие и во Христе Иисусе». Апостол ставит нам в пример Христово смирение и послушание, убеждая подражать Ему. Мы должны достичь небесной славы через послушание и смирение.
Каждый из нас призван к тому, чтобы стать живым образом Иисуса Христа. Сам Господь призывает нас к этому: «Научитесь от Меня, ибо Я кроток и смирен сердцем и найдете покой душам вашим» (Матф. 11:29).

Sermon on the feast of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Brothers and sisters,
On the feasts of the Mother of God, the following excerpt from the epistle of St. Paul to the Philippians is read:
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)
Here the Apostle speaks of how the Lord Jesus Christ humbled Himself for our salvation. He, being God, for the sake of obedience to God the Father, emptied Himself to the point of becoming a man, and suffered the most painful and shameful death on the cross.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
But why was it needed that Christ suffer and be crucified? How did the Cross of Christ bring rebirth to mankind? This is a mystery incomprehensible to the limited human mind.
The fall of the first man Adam is the fall of all mankind. We are born with the corruption of sin within us. You can already notice the germs of passions in the baby: selfishness, envy of siblings. The child grows, and his sinful inclinations grow with him. Everything good requires effort, but the bad, on the contrary, attracts us.
How to change man’s inclination to evil? How to attract him to good without limiting his freedom? How to instill in man’s heart longing to seek God and flee from the devil?
The salvation of man was accomplished by the incarnation of the Son of God, by His voluntary death on the Cross and resurrection.
The Son of God was born on earth as a man. He took upon Himself human nature and, in His Person, united human nature with the divine nature. The Lord Jesus Christ in His human nature defeated the devil. Humanity, united with Godhead in the Person of Jesus Christ, became capable of defeating the devil (which the first Adam was incapable of).
Why is this passage from the Epistle to the Philippians read on the feasts of the Mother of God? Because it depicts the glory of Jesus Christ as Man. As God, the Son of God always has the glory equal to God the Father. But here the Apostle speaks of the glory of the Lord, which He received, as a Man, for His humility and obedience even to death on the cross.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.
The glory of the Lord as Man is at the same time the glory of the Most Holy Mother of God, because from Her He received flesh and became man, having been born from Her.
The Apostle begins his speech with the words: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Man is created in the image and likeness of God. The features of the image of God: freedom of will, reason and immortality, are inherent in the soul of man and they are indestructible. We naturally have these qualities. But the likeness of God is given to us as a possibility. We must become like God through following His commandments. That is why the Holy Scripture calls us to be imitators of God. “Be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Eph. 5:1-2). “Be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36), etc.
In the same way, in today’s reading, the Apostle says: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”. The Apostle sets Christ’s humility and obedience as an example for us, urging us to imitate Him. We must attain heavenly glory through obedience and humility.
Each of us is called to become a living image of Jesus Christ. The Lord Himself calls us to this: “Learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29).
