Митр. Агафангел поместил на своем вебсайте Интернет-Собор статью под названием «В чём особенность нашей Церкви?», которая содержит дикую клевету на Архиеп. Андроника и на наш Церковный Округ. Необходимо ответить на его обвинения.
Как правило, митр. Агафангел начинает свои писания «ab ovo», наполняя свои статьи общеизвестными сведениями. Настоящее его сочинение не является исключением. Пропустим его рассуждения о римо-католицизме и протестантизме, и перейдем к той части, которая говорит о нынешнем положении РПЦЗ.
Митр. Агафангел анализирует причины того, что противники объединения с Московской Патриархией оказались разделены на несколько враждующих групп. Он делает следующие выводы (в моем кратком пересказе):
- Кремль всегда мечтал об уничтожении независимой РПЦЗ; а с начала перестройки (1990-е годы) КГБ начало массированную, спланированную операцию по ее поглощению.
- Для осуществления этой задачи были выделены значительные денежные средства и задействовано большое число профессиональных агентов.
- После объединения РПЦЗ с Московской Патриархией КГБ позаботился о том, чтобы неприсоединившаяся к МП часть РПЦЗ не восстановилась. Для этого в среду противников объединения с МП были внедрены агенты, с целью сеять раздоры и препятствовать их объединению между собой.
- Противодействие объединению среди независимых групп РПЦЗ является отчасти результатом сектантского менталитета, и отчасти выполнением прямого задания КГБ.
- Некоторые из существующих групп были изначально сформированы агентами КГБ.
- И в настоящий момент к группам РПЦЗ приставлены специальные люди, наблюдающие за ними для того, чтобы не дать им объединиться.
Что тут можно сказать? Все верно. Простая логика и анализ происшедших событий убеждает нас в справедливости этих утверждений.
Но тут митр. Агафангел говорит то, ради чего, по-видимому, и была написана эта длинная статья: он называет имена агентов КГБ, внедренных для работы в РПЦЗ. Оказывается, это М. В. Назаров, а также Ю. Лукин, через которого, по утверждению митр. Агафангела, осуществляется контроль над Архиеп. Андроником и его епархией.
Нужно сказать, что здесь нет ничего нового. Митр. Агафангел, как правило, обвиняет своих многочисленных оппонентов в работе на КГБ. Как это объяснить? Или «на воре шапка горит»?
Мы не можем знать имена намеренных разрушителей Церкви, внедренных ее врагами. Но в Св. Евангелии имеется критерий, как можно распознать волков, приходящих в овечьей одежде: «По плодам их узнаете их» (Матф. 7:16).
Митр. Агафангел годами публикует воззвания, в которых призывает разрозненные группы РПЦЗ к объединению, и сетует на то, что на его призывы никто не откликается. И в то же время он делает все, чтобы такое объединение никогда не могло состояться.
Нет, не известный публицист М. В. Назаров и не щедрый, неутомимый церковный благотворитель Ю. Лукин, а совсем другие личности занимаются компрометацией Церкви и разрушением ее изнутри.
Мы не знаем имен агентов КГБ, внедренных в Церковь, но мы можем распознать лукавых делателей, принимающих на себя вид служителей правды (2 Кор.11:13). Такие личности не придерживаются каких-либо нравственных принципов, и готовы без зазрения совести лгать, лицемерить и клеветать.
К церковной группе, контролируемой КГБ через ее возглавление, могут принадлежать и достойные епископы и священники, благодаря чему на приходском и даже епархиальном уровне там может развиваться здоровая церковная жизнь. Но в общецерковном плане такой Синод неизбежно будет духовно парализован, что и является целью врагов Церкви.

Metropolitan Agafangel posted an article on his website, Internet Sobor, entitled “What is Unique About Our Church?”, which contains an outrageous slander against Archbishop Andronik and our Church District. It is necessary to respond to his accusations.
As a rule, m. Agafangel begins his writings “ab ovo”, filling his articles with well-known information. His present work is no exception. Let us skip his discourse on Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, and move on to the part that addresses the current situation of the ROCA.
M. Agafangel analyses the reasons why the opponents of unification with the Moscow Patriarchate were divided into several warring groups. He arrives at the following conclusions (in my summary):
- The Kremlin has always dreamed of destroying the independent ROCA. And with the onset of perestroika (1990s), the KGB launched a massive, planned operation to absorb it.
- Significant financial resources were allocated, and many professional agents were deployed to carry out this task.
- After the unification of the ROCA with the Moscow Patriarchate, the KGB ensured that the part of the ROCA that had not joined the MP would not be restored. To this end, agents were infiltrated among those opposed to unification with the MP, with the goal of sowing discord and preventing their unification.
- Opposition to unification among independent ROCA groups is partly the result of a sectarian mentality and partly a direct assignment from the KGB.
- Some of the existing groups were initially formed by KGB agents.
- Even at the present time, special individuals have been assigned to ROCA groups to monitor them in order to prevent their unification.
What can be said here? Everything is correct. Simple logic and analysis of past events convince us of the validity of these statements.
But then m. Agafangel says what this long article seems to have been written for: he names the KGB agents infiltrated into the ROCA. It turns out that they are M. V. Nazarov, as well as Yury Lukin, through whom, according to Metropolitan Agafangel, control is exercised over Archbishop Andronik and his diocese.
It must be said that there is nothing new here. M. Agafangel, as a rule, accuses his numerous opponents of working for the KGB. How can this be explained? Or is it a case of “the thief’s cap is on fire”?
We cannot know the names of the deliberate destroyers of the Church, infiltrated by her enemies. But the Holy Gospel provides a criterion for recognising wolves coming in sheep’s clothing: “By their fruits you will know them” (Matt. 7:16).
For years, m. Agafangel has been publishing appeals calling for unity among the divided ROCA groups, lamenting that no one responds to his calls. Yet, at the same time, he is doing everything he can to ensure that such unification never takes place.
No, it is not the renowned publicist M. V. Nazarov or the generous, tireless church benefactor Yury Lukin, but entirely different individuals who are compromising the Church and destroying her from within.
We do not know the names of the KGB agents infiltrated into the Church, but we can recognize the deceitful workers who disguise themselves as servants of righteousness (2 Cor. 11:13). Such individuals adhere to no moral principles and are ready, without a twinge of conscience, to lie, cheat, and slander.
A church group controlled by the KGB through its leadership may include worthy bishops and priests, thanks to which a healthy church life can develop there at the parish and even diocesan level. However, on a church-wide level, such a Synod would inevitably be spiritually paralysed, which is precisely the goal of the Church’s enemies.

“The thief’s cap is on fire” – is a Russian idiom meaning that a guilty person gives himself away — by his words, reactions, or behaviour. Closest English equivalent: “The guilty dog barks first.”
